Superintendent Dana Anderson updated our Board on what’s happening around the state and how it affects schools in our region, as well as our own staff. We will follow county local health jurisdiction workplace guidance as it becomes available.
The Board continued their work on updating our vision, mission, and goals, as well as the ESD’s definition of equity. One more round of word smithing, and the updated strategic plan should be ready to go. Stay tuned…
Early Learning Program
Interim assistant superintendents Sandy Nelson and Paula Akerlund have been at ESD 113 for one year now. As they prepare to turn over the leadership of the program to the incoming assistant superintendent, they reviewed with the Board where they’ve taken the program over the past year.
They were happy to report that we are now at full enrollment! And they have restructured the program to establish financial stability.
They are working on supporting children with special needs, particularly those with challenging behaviors and those impacted by trauma. Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP) continues to be a priority. They are looking into the possibility of expanding our ECEAP work.
Our March 20 all-staff event has been cancelled because of the risk of spreading COVID-19. The April Board meeting is still scheduled — we may need to hold that meeting via Zoom, rather than in-person.
